Culture plays a significant role in getting knowledge about our roots. I have visited various cultural places; however, here, I would like to talk about my favourite one.
- Where it is
The name of this museum is Kranti Mandir Museum Complex located in The Red Fort, New Delhi.
- How you knew this place
I visited the Red Fort with my family, and my brother lives in the same city. He invited us to visit this museum since he knows I love visiting historical and cultural places. Moreover, I desire to pursue a career in the same field.
- What it is like
This place is located in the Red Fort and it was constructed in the 16th century. It exhibits Islamic and Persian culture. It is constructed using red sandstone and is wonderful. Its view is spectacular and it has a white entrance gate constructed using marble.
- And explain how the place is related to culture.
There are four new museums in the Red Fort and all are associated with the War of Independence. The museum complex, known as Kranti Mandir, is a tribute to India's freedom fighters. It covers 160 years of Indian history including the First War of Independence in 1857, Subhas Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army, India’s participation in World War I, and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Furthermore, this museum is associated with the Delhi Art Gallery too which has 450 rare historical works of art such as paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, Amrita Sher-Gil, Rabindranath Tagore, Abaniindranath Tagore and Jamini Roy.
This museum is easily accessible by Delhi Metro and Local buses and situated just near to Chandni Chownk, New Delhi.
Part - 3
1. Does the culture of the past have an impact on today’s culture?
There is no denying this conviction that the culture of the past dramatically impacts today’s culture because the old habits acquired from the past, you know, pass through various generations.
Punjab is a fine example of a place where there were many invasions in the past, such as Turkic invasions, and the invaders would loot everything. So, the people stopped stealing because they used to consume whatever they produced. And that culture is still going on. The people of Punjab believe that it’s not worth it to save. So, they spend whatever they earn.
2. Which is more critical regarding culture, literature or music?
Music is more important than literature. Music is for all sections of society because all people can comprehend it very quickly. So whether you are educated or uneducated, you can still understand the music. So that’s why music is more important.
On the contrary, literature is for only those who are educated to some extent because you need a certain amount of career to understand the literature. So, the message conveyed through music transfers from generation to generation and from culture to culture very quickly, which is not the case with literature.
3. How do young people learn about different cultures?
Young people learn about different cultures by watching videos related to them.
So these days technology has advanced a lot. So people can connect freely and easily without any geographical barriers. So, people sitting in India can watch the culture of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in the comforts of their homes through TV.
So that’s the first way to learn. And the second is when you travel a lot. Because while travelling, you meet people from divergent backgrounds.
So that is how you learn about culture. The third is if you live in a cosmopolitan city where people from different nationalities show up together while doing their work. So that is another place to learn the culture.
4. What kind of culture is popular among young people?
These days, young people are more inclined towards Western culture and products, especially technology-related ones, and Western music, especially pop music, is popular among youngsters. So most follow that.
5. How is culture formed?
The culture thrives primarily on traditions. So, culture forms when a particular group of people devise rules and regulations, run their show accordingly and continue it for many generations. Then, the new generations, the posterity, adopt it and conceive it as an integral part of them. Vegetarianism is a prime example.
In ancient times, people refrained from eating non-vegetarian food in India, which is why it has become a vegetarian culture. That practice is still followed in many parts of India.
