Describe something you own that you want to replace.

You should say:

  • What it is
  • Where it is
  • How you got it
  • Explain why you want to replace it.

It is human nature to replace items at home after some time, and now, I would like to talk about something that I would like to replace.

  • What it is

It is an air conditioner that is installed in my parent's room. We like it very much; however, I think that the time has come to swap it with a modern one since it belongs to the late 90s.

  • Where it is

It is installed in my parent's room on the first floor.

  • How you got it

My father usually tells me that my grandfather bought this air conditioner from a metro city in Punjab named Amritsar.

  • Explain why you want to replace it.

I want to replace it owing to some reasons:

  1. This air conditioner now lacks efficient cooling since it is around three decades old. Hence, it has lost its charm due to improper cooling.

  1. Moreover, it is the fixed-speed air conditioner and now we are witnessing the advent of the inverter- technology-based air conditioner. Such units consume less power compared to the old ones and hence, it is the best way to save electricity. Furthermore, my parents can switch on this unit any time of the day because it consumes less energy and provides more cooling on the first floor where we witness direct sunlight.

  1. Finally, it is my long-cherished desire to gift an ultramodern air conditioner to my parents which will have cooling as well as heating modes because my parents have to use a heating blower during the winter season, and in this new air conditioner, they can access heating mode easily.

Part 3 - The Internet Cited.

1. Does consumption have any impact on the environment?

Consumption through the use of fuels and natural resources affects the environment. It involves nature very severely because fuels emit gases; when vehicles burn fuel, they emit many gases, consume many resources like water and soil, and humans pollute everything. So, consuming any material given by nature damages and harms the environment.

2. Why do people always want to buy new things to replace old ones?

It’s a human certainty to change new things from the old ones because they are old, have been used, and are dull when using the old stuff. So they want to try something new because it’s human nature to try something new every day. If we wear the same clothes or the same clothes for the year, we get bored of wearing them, and the same thing is with our mind.

We should do something interesting every day. Our routine should not be the same; everything should be different. Every day,  we should change something, and it will be interesting.

3. Why do you think some people replace things more often than others?

Some people replace things less often than others because they have a certain mindset about changing their things to new ones. They like to wear new clothes every day, do not want to repeat it, and usually get bored doing only one thing. So they prefer to change or switch things.

4. Why do young people change things more often than older adults?

Young people usually change things more than older ones because older ones prefer to repeat things and save their money, but the new ones are not in that area because they want to try something new and trendy in fashion. So they always prefer to choose the new one and change things quickly, but the older ones have experience, and many have experiences in life. Hence, they like to repeat things and do not buy new ones because if the older ones are better, why should they purchase the new ones?

5. Why do some people like to buy expensive things?

People like to buy expensive things because they make them feel rich and authentic, and one thing is also that if you purchase costly things, it will go on for a long time. And like the other one, which is not that expensive, it will be damaged quickly. So costly things are good, and they will run for the long run.

6. Why do some people prefer to buy things in the supermarket rather than online?

In the supermarket, people prefer to buy things because they can feel the fabrics and the things they buy.

In the online system, they can see only pictures; they cannot see the size and proper size of the photograph or the appropriate colour because many factors, such as camera quality, flashes, and everything else, change the pictures graphically. Hence, people prefer to buy things when they see them with their naked eyes.

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India. Moreover, we have traditional fast foods as well.  The first one is a sa...

Part - 3 - All Cue Cards

Part 3 belongs to all new cue cards from September to December 2022. We have written the answers on our own except for one topic. Hence, we hold the copyright status of the answers written by us. 1.  Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.). 1. Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...
