The government should control the Internet to reduce cyber crime and ensure safety of users. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Cybercrime has become a grave concern these days, and it is said that the chair ought to curb such crimes to ensure users' safety. I agree with the notion to a large extent.
The foremost reason is cybercrime encompasses a wide range of criminal activities that are carried out using digital devices and networks. These crimes involve the use of technology to commit fraud, identity theft, data breaches, computer viruses, and scams. Hence, it is the responsibility of governments to suppress these offences by imposing a complete ban on malicious websites. For instance, recently, the Indian government has launched the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to enable the public to report incidents about all types of cyber crimes. And this government has imposed a hawk's eye on suspicious activities on the Internet.
On the contrary, the control of the Internet from the government is not necessary as it can regulate access to even helpful resources. A number of youngsters use social media platforms and they can delete personal information easily which prevents the public from knowing the important truth. I think authorities must crack down on websites misleading people on political matters; however, subscribers must consider it their moral duty not to publish any personal information on the Internet.
Likewise, cybercrime is a challenging issue in the modern world; nonetheless, people should refrain from using third-party applications, and head towards dedicated as well as government applications.
To conclude, after discussing both schools of thought I somewhat agree governments must take action against cyber breaches by adjusting the country frameworks to regulate the internet boundaries. Conversely, individuals must also mushroom their awareness while using the Intenet.
