Tradition is the pillar of a nation, and without traditions, a country can go easily out of its roots. Plenty of traditions are there in my country India, and now I will talk about my favourite one.

This tradition is all about touching the feet of elders which is an age-old Indian tradition that is considered to be a mark of respect.

This gesture can be seen in all Indian families and even the ones who are residing abroad.

Indians believe that when a person bows down and touches the feet of the elders, their ego gets suppressed as the gesture indicates respecting the age, experiences achievements, and wisdom of the person whose feet are being touched. The elder person then, in turn, blesses the person touching their feet.

To touch the feet of an elder or a respectable person, one must bend the upper body in front of them, without bending the bones and stretch the arms forward, in a way that they should remain parallel and should be stressed in such a way that the right-hand touches the left leg, and the left hand and touches the right leg. Then, the elder person should touch the top of her head with the right hand and give blessings.

I feel delighted while doing this activity as it instils in me a flow of positive energy. Moreover, in my opinion, the act of touching feet has approved profound scientific reason since the nerve in the human body, starting from our brain spreads all over the body and ends at the fingertips and toes.

Hence, when the feet of the elder person are touched then their heart fills with pleasure, good thoughts, and positive energy, and when our fingertips touch their feet and then a closed circuit is established between the two immediately, and thus, the energies of the bodies are connected to end or fingerprints, and the toes become a receptor of this energy, while the feet of the elder person become the giver of the energy to us. Therefore, in this way, this activity spreads positive energy while giving respect to our elders and masters.

1. What is the importance of traditional festivals?

Traditional festivals are significant because it brings family and friends together. Moreover, people forget all their tensions and feel very happy and relaxed while celebrating festivals.

2. What’s the difference between festivals now and in the past?

I think now people forget the history of festivals, which means there is a story or a historical fact behind the festival. People are celebrating festivals for enjoyment. However, if we talk about the past, people, even every child was known the meaning and story/reasons for the celebrations.

3. Do you think western festivals like Christmas are replacing traditional festivals in your country?

Well, people are indeed adopting western culture, and they are celebrating festivals like Christmas with their friends and families. But it does not mean people do not celebrate their traditional festivals. They celebrate both types of festivals with the same energy.

4. Do you think it is wrong for children not to celebrate traditional festivals?

I believe that festivals spread happiness. However, today’s generation shows less interest in traditional festivals, and it is because of the busy routine and technology. They are busy on their mobile phone instead of spending time with family and friends and celebrating festivals.

5. Do you think teenagers should learn about traditions?

Yes. they should know about traditions because traditions are our roots, and it is good and very beneficial if they are staying in contact with their roots.

Part - 3 - All Cue Cards

Part 3 belongs to all new cue cards from September to December 2022. We have written the answers on our own except for one topic. Hence, we hold the copyright status of the answers written by us. 1.  Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.). 1. Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India.
