Our personalities are predetermined as a result of our genes before we are born and there is nothing that can be done to change our character traits. To what extent do you agree?

It is believed that people cannot alter their personalities, owing to the predetermined nature of their genes. I strongly condemn the notion as I assert people can change according to their environment and experience.
To start with, the primary factor is the environmental conditions for the upbringing of a minor. These aspects play a paramount role in everyone's life, and they have no association with genes. The genes are recipes for proteins, and they have nothing to do with character. Personality forms through many former lives, and it is an outcome of trials and tribulation, the lessons we have learned, and the morals and ethics one has absorbed and habits. All these personality traits are supra-consciousness, and they accompany life to live. For instance, a child born in a joint family learns better from grandparents owing to their healthy experience instead of those who live in conjugal families.
The secondary pivotal element is experience. People grab experience when they face any novel idea in their life. Numerous scientists failed in experimentation in their lives; however, with dedication and learning from experience, they achieved a successful career. To cite an example, Thomas Elva Edison failed 9999 times during the invention of the light bulb and invented it by learning from past experiences. Similarly, several students face failures in school but succeed in universities. Therefore, one can change genetic behaviour by willpower and learning from the past.
To conclude, after this discussion, I assume one can change personality through experience and educational measures. In the teenage years, people are acquainted chiefly with their friends, and their friends' behaviour directly affects their actions and personality forming. Finally, in adulthood, the life experience that a human gets and the sphere people work in builds the final version of a person.
