Many of the medical problems that people are experiencing in today's world are because we have a very sedentary lifestyle. To what extent do you agree?

The 21st century witnesses the advent of an ocean of medical problems in people's lives. Moreover, the notion asserts that such medical issues are associated with a desk-bound lifestyle. I extend my support to the provided statement since individuals do not get engaged in physical work these days; nonetheless, a few ailments are associated with genetics, too.

The foremost factor sustaining my viewpoint is that a motionless lifestyle is directly proportional to significantly higher levels of obesity. It is because reduced physical activities lead to decreased energy expenditure, which adversely affects us, and we start gaining weight. Furthermore, the fatal combination of a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits exacerbates the risk of obesity and chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular issues, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes. Thus, it is necessary to overcome a sedentary lifestyle to stave away various cognitive and physical disorders.

Another problem related to a sedentary lifestyle is that it has become a leading cause of mental disorders, depression, anxiety, and stress. Many doctors have revealed that their patients who are suffering from cognitive issues do not participate in physical work and have been glued to a sedentary lifestyle. The World Health Organisation declares that a weekly good time of exercise can guarantee good health. In the same way, sedentary behaviours, especially screen-based ones, usually contribute to feelings of addiction, brain burnout, and sleep issues, potentially increasing psychological stress. Consequently, it is sad to say this type of lifestyle is detrimental.

Conversely, there are a few diseases associated with some infections or genetic disorders. To be more specific, I want to assert that despite having a strong body, many people still face issues in their lives. These issues are associated with deadly infections caused by influenza and measles, and certain cancers like colon and breast cancer. Additionally, undeniably, one can say depression is caused by a sedentary lifestyle; however, it is not the root cause of schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. Therefore, we can assert that a desk-bound lifestyle is associated with around fifty per cent of worldwide diseases.

To conclude, after this discussion, I am of the opinion that a sedentary lifestyle has given birth to many acute diseases, which may become chronic in the long run; however, we should not overlook other diseases as well, which are caused genetically.

Part - 3 - All Cue Cards

Part 3 belongs to all new cue cards from September to December 2022. We have written the answers on our own except for one topic. Hence, we hold the copyright status of the answers written by us. 1.  Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.). 1. Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India. Moreover, we have traditional fast foods as well.  The first one is a sa...
