E-mail has had a huge impact on professional and social communication, but this impact has been both negative and positive. Do the disadvantages of using e-mail outweigh the advantages?

With the advent of technology, people prefer using electronic mail to transfer information in their professional and social lives, which has both advantages and disadvantages. Thus, this essay attempts to discuss whether the demerits outweigh the merits.

On the one hand, emails have made our professional and social communication swifter and convenient owing to a plethora of reasons. The foremost is that one can share information using emails from one sphere of the world to another in a matter of time at no additional cost. Moreover, banks and the corporate sectors send monthly statements and official letters to their clients and employees, respectively, using email since it is secure and quicker. Therefore, companies can save their extra money on paper usage, too.

Another benefit of email in professional and social lives is that one can access messages and information anywhere, at anytime, on laptops and mobile devices. For instance, around seven in ten people use Gmail since its availability across multiple devices ensures that we are connected and approachable by an informer wherever we are. Moreover, recently, the United Kingdom has introduced an electronic visa mechanism which one can download using an email link only, since these nations consider this mode the fastest, reliable, and protected. Thus, we cannot overlook the momentous outcome of emails in our professional and social lives.

On the other hand, there are a handful of drawbacks associated with emails. To begin with, there are a few privacy concerns with using email. To be more specific, the email model relies heavily on data collection, and users feel worried about the fact that third-party applications may misuse their information using hacking techniques. Additionally, many companies collect sensitive information about their clients in certain cases and share it with advertising companies, due to which users face harassment.

Likewise, some people have contended that they now lack face-to-face or telephonic communication, since they are now dependent on email usage to clear almost every doubt. Hence, people are devoid of speaking skills and body gestures and believe in writing only.

To conclude, after discussing both schools of thought, I firmly assert that email provides an ocean of miracles to the users with a few flaws. Nonetheless, the merits outnumber the demerits as a whole.

Part - 3 - All Cue Cards

Part 3 belongs to all new cue cards from September to December 2022. We have written the answers on our own except for one topic. Hence, we hold the copyright status of the answers written by us. 1.  Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.). 1. Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India. Moreover, we have traditional fast foods as well.  The first one is a sa...
