Freshwater is a limited resource in certain regions of the world. Today, the escalating demand has transformed it into a global problem. What are the causes of increasing demand? What measures can governments and individuals take to respond to the problem?

Freshwater has become a limited resource due to the population explosion, climate change, and overconsumption. Thus, this essay will address how the authorities and society can overcome this issue.

The foremost reason behind an inclination toward freshwater demand is that the need for freshwater has flared up with the dawn of the population explosion. It means people use more freshwater to fulfil their needs. To be more precise, humans need fresh water for drinking to bathing purposes, and it has been proven fact the water purifiers at our homes waste around four litres of water to provide us with one litre of potable water. Many people waste freshwater as well utilizing it for unnecessary vehicle cleaning.

Another factor aggravating this issue is climate change. Comprehensively, as temperatures increase, so does evaporation, which increases the possibility of droughts. Droughts lead to less drinking water and agricultural produce. Similarly, soaring temperatures also melt ice caps and send saltwater into underground supplies of fresh water. Hence, freshwater scarcity has become a grave concern.

This problem is insurmountable; however, we can suppress it to a significant extent by the implementation of strict laws. I think we must focus on the greywater recycling mechanism, which is one of the simplest ways to conserve water. It is a process that involves the collection of water from sinks, showers, and baths and the reuse of the collected water after its treatment. Moreover, this concept turns out to be beneficial in reducing 50% of water usage.

Likewise, the authorities must focus on promoting a rainwater harvesting system which is an efficient method to replenish groundwater levels and conserve natural water. This method is the finest approach to collect rainwater and allow it to percolate into an underground reservoir. This approach is used by Japan to safeguard the ecosystem and combat water scarcity.

To conclude, various spheres around the globe are suffering from water scarcity because of the mentioned factors. And the chair can curb this menace by using efficient techniques with special support from individuals.

Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India. Moreover, we have traditional fast foods as well.  The first one is a sa...

Moreover, I can easily memorise the mobile number of people.  However, I find it difficult when I have to recall the names of those who are from another culture, especially East and South Indian, owing to their uniqueness.   Do you do anything to help you remember people’s names?  Not all the time, I think it is necessary to use anything in remembering people’s names. More specifically, if the people are from my province Punjab, then I can remember easily because of similarity; however, if the people are from another culture, then I prefer to write their names on my pocket diary to remember them.  How do you feel when people ca...
