The modern era witnessed a rapid rise in texting rather than calling. It is because of several benefits of texting. Hence, I will discuss my viewpoint in the forthcoming paragraphs.
To start with, texting is quicker and more convenient. One of the biggest reasons consumers prefer texting over calls is that it is faster. People can communicate using this mode anytime. For instance, one cannot call late in the evening; however, we can drop a text and get a reply without wasting time. Moreover, texting is much more convenient than calling because it allows us to exchange words during time intervals such as breakfast and lunch. Moreover, texting is excellent to use in start-and-stop modes, which makes phone calls an impractical choice. Therefore, various people love to use texting over voice calls.
On the one hand, people love texting when there is no need to get acknowledged by the receiver. It is an excellent concept for general announcements or appointment reminders. Moreover, texting can reach a large number of people at the same time, which is impossible in a voice call mechanism. In the same way, sometimes we cannot approach a person in case of an emergency due to a meeting or conference, and text message is the best way to update since one cannot attend a voice call during meetings.
On the other hand, voice calls are great for having detailed conversations and getting recipients to respond immediately. We can imagine the truthfulness of a person on a voice call effectively compared to texting since we can get constructive feedback in a matter of time. Furthermore, calling can be better than texting for fostering deeper connections, conveying emotions and understanding others accordingly using bodily gestures. Various studies have revealed that a human voice can soothe anxiety and lower cortisol levels, making phone calls a healthier option for emotional well-being.
To conclude, convenience and ease of use behaviour gravitate people to opt for sending messages rather than going forvoice calls. Moreover, after discussing both schools of thought, I think this concept has equal merits and demerits.
