Describe a situation in your vehicle that broke down during your travel.

You should say:

  • where you were going
  • Who you were with at that time
  • how long it took to fix the vehicle
  • and explain how you felt about it.

In various situations, we may face snags in our vehicles since machinery can break down at times. Here, I would like to discuss an event when our vehicle broke down.

  • Where you were going

I exactly remember going to Rishikesh which is known as the Yoga Capital of the World to attend the international yoga festival there. It is located around 360 miles from my hometown and I was excited during that journey.

  • Who you were with at that time

I was going there with my parents since it was the long cherished desire of my mother to attend this festival, and my father wanted to witness the enthusiastic beauty of this place. Moreover, my cousin's brother was with me at that time as he wanted to visit Rajaji National Park which is India's oldest national park.

  • What happened and how long did it take to fix the vehicle

We started our journey from my hometown and everything went in an apple-pie manner; however, we faced a snag in our car when we approached Shastradhara, our car started showing a yellow signal bearing an issue with the engine. My cousin was driving the car and he stopped it straightway since he thought this issue might cause major problems. We all came out of our car, and my cousin asked for help from the locals. Finally, a car mechanic fixed our car in two hours since our engine's belt faced foreign particles.

  • And explain how you felt about it.

This experience provided me with good lessons:

  1. Firstly, the alien people there helped us since we were unfamiliar with the place. Moreover, one aunt offered us tea. We all were upset owing to a car issue at an unknown place; however, we felt happy in the end due to the wonderful hospitality of the locals.
  2. Secondly, we all were at one witts end since we were unable to get help from any mechanic and even my cousin wandered here and there, but every time, we faced failure. But, when locals of that village got the information, they called one mechanic from around 20 miles away, and then we were delighted.

Therefore, this optimistic behaviour of locals instilled enthusiasm in us.

Part - 3 - All Cue Cards

Part 3 belongs to all new cue cards from September to December 2022. We have written the answers on our own except for one topic. Hence, we hold the copyright status of the answers written by us. 1.  Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.). 1. Do   you   think   there   are   more   beautiful   things   now   than  in  the   past? In my opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more captivating. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find shoppers in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past. Moreover, nowadays artists rely on machine work instead of handmad...

Speaking Part 1 - January to April 2023

Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day. Usually, I like wheat bread with freshly cooked vegetables like Okra, Turnip, beans and cauliflower. Along with this, I love to take a cup of tea. However, during weekends, my mother cooks stuffed bread for me, and amongst all these bread types, my favourite one is potato-filled bread with curd and homemade butter.  Do you eat fast food? Yes, I do, but once a fortnight, I prefer to have it. It is owing to the bad cholesterols present in junk food materials. In this category, I find cheese burst pizza, garlic bread and white sauce Italian pasta mouth-watering.  What are the different kinds of fast food in your country? Name them. India has an ocean of fast food materials. For instance, Chinese, Italian and American fast materials are the most popular ones in India. Moreover, we have traditional fast foods as well.  The first one is a sa...
