One of the most important issues facing the world today is a shortage of food and some think genetically modified foods are a possible solution. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Food is our fuel without which human survival is impossible, and owing to population explosion and land scarcity, an insufficient quantity of natural food is being produced. Hence, it is contended that genetically modified food should be considered an alternative to natural one. I agree with the statement to a certain extent; however, I believe, natural food can never be completed by the laboratory and genetically modified food. 

On the one hand, genetically modified crops can be considered alternatives to natural ones due to a few reasons. First of all, with each passing day, the population is bursting. Hence, green jungles are being converted to concrete ones for the construction of new homes. As a result, the area of fertile land is being plummeted. Therefore, genetically modified crops are feeding a large set of the population since more crops can be grown by using the smaller area. Secondly, such crops are more resistant to pest attacks that result in higher yields for farmers along with enhanced flavour at reduced rates. In brief, a number of natural food items are attacked by pests, and by introducing genetically modified crops, farmers can yield a good quantity and quality. 

On the other hand, how genetic food can compete with natural ones due to the fact natural food has more nutritional values compared to others. I am of the opinion natural food materials are more palatable than genetically modified food. Furthermore, it has been a proven fact that genetically modified foods can cause cancer to a major extent and can trigger several allergic reactions. Hence, I assume instead of growing food using scientific methods, vertical farming should be encouraged, and fertile land ought to be saved.  

To conclude,  I consider that undeniably, genetic food can be used in contemporary days as an alternative to natural; on the contrary, the advantages of natural foods outweigh genetic ones.

  Fast Food and Break Fast What do you have for breakfast? I prefer to have my favourite food items during the first meal of the day.
